Current Difficulties
Typically, Venture Academy's Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program Program serves troubled teens who may have a history of substance abuse and related issues such as: · underachieving Clients accessing the program may be demonstrating behavioural
challenges and experiencing emotional difficulties intertwined with
alcohol or drug abuse. These behaviours are typically preventing
the client from healthy functioning in his or her everyday life
causing disruptions in school, family life, and social relationships. There may be a multitude of reasons why your child is using drugs. Parents may or may not know why their son or daughter has become involved in substance abuse. Contributing factors may include emotional difficulties, mental health issues, and clinically diagnosed disorders, such as: low self-esteem, depression, poor self-concept, Attention Deficit Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder etc. Venture Academy's individualized approaches, intervention methods and treatment plans, typically enable us to accommodate an extensive client base including those with significant behavioural challenges and/or the above-mentioned diagnosis. Who Attends the Program - Really? Our clients typically come to us with loving parents attached. Parents who have moral standards and family values and want their child to get back on track. Families may be tradtional or have become separated or blended but parents are still there and closely support their child as much as possible. We typically serve "non-traditional youth at risk" - that is, teens that seemingly have little or no reason to be doing what they are doing. Typically none or very few of the traditional or obvious risk factors are present such as; abusive parents, street involvement, foster care etc. The youth in our program could be any average looking kid from any typical middle school or high school. Yes families may have had their challenges and things may not have always been perfect but the common denominator is that parents love their children and want to get help for their child. Parents typically state they've given their child everything or every opportunity and still their son or daughter is making poor choices. The great news is that the families who engage our program are committed to their child's health and well being and are choosing our program as a clinically comprehensive solution to their child's current situation. |
