Approach
At Venture Academy we have developed and offer a variety of personal growth modules targeting essential developmental tasks and life skills, which all youth must face at some point during their adolescence.

All of Venture Academy's therapeutic residential treatment programs utilize similar program philosophies but emphasize different program components based upon the goals or objectives of the program and the participant's strengths, needs, preferences, interests and abilities.

Emotional Growth
Individualized counselling and skill building sessions will help support young adults in understanding their emotions, self-concepts, behaviours and the intent behind their behaviours. As they learn and participate in sessional work, they will gain greater knowledge and understanding of their personal development. Our goal is to support participants in developing strategies that will improve their everyday functioning and have an ongoing positive impact on the quality of their lives. We focus on solutions and skill building.

· Social and Peer Relationships

Daily Living Skills
Venture Academy supports youth in developing and enhancing their daily living skills and introduces them to relevant concepts and practical applications. Daily living expectations such as personal hygiene, room and accommodation cleanliness, wake-up/bed times and other personal responsibility tasks are closely monitored and supported.


Post-Secondary Education
The demand for post- secondary education and training is greater than ever before. At Venture Academy, we support youth in investigating the kind of institution that is best suited to their goals, needs and objectives. Participants will be invited to tour a variety of higher learning centres to help point them to the career of their choice after graduation - even if high school graduation is not currently on their agenda.

Educational facilities to be explored will include:

· College
· Technical schools
· Business Schools
· Vocational Training


Work Force Exposure
"What am I going to do for a living?" Participants in the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program may find themselves confronting this dilemma. At Venture Academy, we support youth in exploring their interests, investigating related employment opportunities and in determining the pre-requisites, financial and lifestyle rewards related to the career of their choice. Individuals will tour a variety of employment sites and have the opportunity to speak with staff and management in related positions.

Work force exposure includes:
· Retail Sector
· Labour Market
· Hospitality Industry
· Vocational/Trades
· Professional
· Entrepreneurs


Job Search Strategies
At some time or another, nearly everyone is faced with the responsibility of finding work and developing job search skills. Venture Academy Counsellors prepare youth for the often-challenging task of obtaining employment. The participants will be supported in developing job search strategies, implementing a job search plan and potentially securing employment.


Certificate and Orientations
These practical modules involve various information and experiential learning sessions. Individuals will have the opportunity to use or practice acquired skills while in the program as well as utilize their new-found competencies in their home communities.

These include:
· Emergency First Aid
· Wilderness Safety
· Water and Boating Safety
· Environmental Care
· Health and Nutrition

Participants will be supported in exploring and acquiring other certificates in identified skill areas if desired.
