Venture Academy's Independent Living Program provides
supportive residential placements and counseling services to male
and female clients ages 18 to 25 (and up) who may
be experiencing difficulties managing their lives at home, at school,
at work, or in the community.
Typically, Venture Academy's Independent Living Program serves
a client population who may have a history of:

Clients accessing the program may be demonstrating behavioural
challenges and experiencing emotional difficulties. These barriers
would most likely be preventing the client from functioning normally
in his or her everyday life causing disruptions in school, employment,
family life, and social relationships.
Historical Concerns
Possible emotional difficulties, mental
health issues, and clinically diagnosed disorders, may
include: low self-esteem, depression, poor self-concept,
Attention Deficit Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant
Disorder etc.
Who Gets In
Venture Academy's individualized approaches, intervention methods
and service plans, enable us to accommodate an extensive client
base including those with significant behavioural
challenges, emotional concerns, mild mental challenges, head and
brain injuries.
Venture Academy has a consulting psychologist, psychiatrist and
behavioural health specialist on retainer, but clients who are in
need of intensive psychiatric care are deemed not suitable or appropriate
for a placement in Venture Academy's Independent Living Program.
Parents' Concern
Parents or clients themselves may simply be concerned or apprehensive
about an impending move away from home.
They may wish to access a support network in order to facilitate
and ensure a smooth transition. Parents may also be concerned about
their son or daughter's functioning in their
current residence. Venture Academy will customize our services
to meet the potential client's individual needs and parental preferences.
