Venture Academy maintains relationships with affiliated professionals in various locations.
Identified counsellors may be accessed as a follow up support service or for local consultation.
Lawrence Stoyanowski, M.Sc., MFT, R.C.C.
Lawrence is a Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Registered Clinical
Counsellor. He obtained his Masters degree in Marriage and Family
Therapy from Loma Linda University in California. Lawrence
is a
skilled therapist, mediator, and facilitator who has worked extensively
with families, youth, couples and individuals. Lawrence is a brief-orientated
therapist who is focused on finding solutions
to the challenges
that face families, utilizing techniques such as “effective communication”.
Lawrence believes every family is unique and is dedicated to helping
youth and their families get back on track and have healthy, vibrant
relationships. Lawrence is an enthusiastic speaker who provides
seminars and workshops, and is very involved in his community, sitting
on several boards and committees Langley BC.
Darren Wilk, M.A., R.C.C.
Darren graduated from Trinity Western University with a M.A. in
counselling psychology after enjoying a 10 year career as a professional
youth pastor in Saskatchewan and BC Darren Has co-founded Lighthouse
Therapeutic Services and specializes in marriage and family issues.
As a marriage
coach he is a dynamic communicator who uses passion
and humour to inspire couples to create extraordinary
marriages. Another area of expertise is in addictions where Darren
has worked as a counsellor in a residential centre with chemically
dependent clients. He also is a certified trainer in working with
trauma and panic disorders. Darren and his Wife, La Verna have been
professional therapeutic foster parents for 10 years and know what
it takes to work with almost any challenge
with the youth population.
La Verna Wilk, M.A. Counselling
La Verna is completing her Masters in Counselling at Associated
Canadian Theological Seminaries after fulfilling her prerequisites
at Trinity Western University and her Bachelors at Winnipeg Bible
College. She is also certified to use One Eye Integration, an effective
trauma treatment similar to EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing).
La Verna has been a Therapeutic Foster parent for 10 years, and
cared for children aging 7 to 17 in her home as well as doing parent
training with the families in her care. She also worked for 10 years
in various capacities with youth as a volunteer counsellor and program
coordinator. She specializes in developing structural systems that
support family growth and individual life skill.
