At Venture Academy we have developed and offer a variety of personal growth objectives targeting essential developmental milestones and life skills, which all young adults must face.
All of Venture Academy’s therapeutic residential treatment programs for troubled teens and young adults utilize similar program philosophies but emphasize different program components based upon the goals or objectives of the program and the participant’s needs..
Emotional Growth
Individualized counselling and skill building sessions help support your adult child in understanding their emotions, behaviours and the intent behind their behaviours.
Our goal is to support struggling youth and young adults ages 19-25 in developing strategies that will improve their everyday functioning and have an ongoing positive impact on the quality of their lives.
We focus on solutions and skill building.
Areas covered include:
- Healthy online behaviour and interaction
- Computer and cell phone management and regulation
- Communicating with others
- Aggression/anger management
- Problem solving
- Self esteem
- Social and peer relationships
- Resolving conflicts
Daily and Independent Living Skills
Venture Academy supports youth and young adults in developing and enhancing their daily living skills and introduces them to relevant concepts and practical applications. Daily living expectations such as personal hygiene, room and accommodation cleanliness, wake-up/bed times and other personal responsibility tasks are closely monitored and supported.
Participants also acquire or enhance their independent living skills by participating in cooking, grocery shopping, nutrition and food hygiene practices, laundry, budgeting, banking, and other identified tasks. Participants are encouraged to demonstrate competency in these skill areas.
Post-Secondary Education
The demand for post-secondary education and training is greater than ever before. At Venture Academy we support youth and young adults in investigating the kind of institution that is best suited to their goals, needs and objectives. Participants will be invited to tour a variety of higher learning centres to help point them to the career of their choice.
Educational facilities to be explored will include:

- College
- Technical schools
- Business schools
- Vocational training
Work Force Exposure
“What am I going to do for a living?” Participants in the Young Adult Program may find themselves confronting this dilemma. At Venture Academy, we support youth and young adults in exploring their interests, investigating related employment opportunities and in determining the pre-requisites, financial and lifestyle rewards related to the career of their choice. Individuals will tour a variety of employment sites and have the opportunity to speak with staff and management in related positions.
Work force exposure includes:
- Retail sector
- Labour market
- Hospitality industry
- Vocational/trades
- Professional
- Entrepreneurs
Employment
At some time or another, nearly everyone is faced with the responsibility of finding work and developing job search skills. Dead end job after dead end job or the inability fo find meaning work can be frustrating and a drain on motivation and self esteem. Venture Academy Counsellors prepare youth and young adults for the often-challenging task of obtaining employment. The participants will be supported in developing job search strategies, implementing a job search plan and potentially securing employment. If a participant secures employment, Venture Academy Counsellors will monitor their progress and support them through any issues that may arise.
